I am a Jewish woman who is always interested in an honest gentile perspective. Due to your site's objective, apolitical orientation and academic style, I trusted you and even admired you for a while. However, I find that some if not many of your articles are falling far short of your site's professed ideals. All too often, I find that many of your articles make unconventional if not outright radical claims without adequate proofs ("Much of the moral content in rabbinical Judaism, which arose after the Muslims conquered Jerusalem, is borrowed or learned from Islam." Maria Hussein, "Allah's Word Against the Jews") make sweeping attacks on Jews based on "sins" that are of dubious malevolence to humanity The people who are featured at the Jewish Tribal Review are not clones of its founders. We do not agree with everything in every article posted. Nor are there many articles that we would entirely endorse anywhere. How many articles have you run across that are, to your criteria, perfect? At our This Week's Jewish News, we post excerpts from material ranging from Rush Limbaugh to the World Socialist Web site. What is the common denominator? A critical inquiry into Jewish identity, Jewish Power, and apartheid Israel. Do we agree with every detail (in the broader ideological premises) from which these polar perspectives originate? No. How can we? Our intent is to have a forum for variant social and political perspectives on these issues, from a critical perspective. Per recent authors, is our purpose to endorse an Islamic theocracy? No. Is it to spread Christianity? No. Is it to endorse homosexuality? No. Its purpose is to enhance critical inquiry about the issues of Jewish hegemony from a range of perspectives. ("Look at the effect of Jewish freedom...... the collapse of the Soviet Union. A largely Jewish intellectual elite - a million people - up and left in the 1970s-90s," raving communist Simon Jones, "Gays and Jews: Birds of a Feather?") or just flat out rant "And if ever it was clear, if ever there existed in the 2,000 year history of the Christian faith the proof of an organized, fanatically driven agenda to bring lawlessness and brutality into the world, then clearly the proof of such a conspiracy exists today in the antichrist agenda known as Marxist Zionism. " Mark Glenn, "Ten Good Men"). Again, virtually any kind of critical perspective about Jews and Israel is censored by the Jewish Lobby. We will not argue every detail of every article we post at the home page of the Jewish Tribal Review. That is the job of these articles' authors, whose emails addresses are usually posted. We WILL argue every detail of what originates from the authors associated with the founding of the Jewish Tribal Review. There is room here to discuss the excerpts you don't like. We post your objections here. If you, as a Jew, are interested in posting at this web site a critical article about Jewish identity, Jewish history, Jewish Power, or some such realm, we'll probably post it, providing its fundamental thrust is in the critical realm we're interested in. The article needn't represent a clone of us, and it is likely we would not agree with your entire perspective, and even disagree with your presentation of facts. You could even develop a detailed criticism of the articles you object to here, and we'd probably feature it. Even if we thought it was insane or irrational, we'd post it at least at our "feedback" column. Furthermore, a website such as yours that features Christian, Muslim and Communist attacks on Jews presents no coherent message and underlies any claim to intellectual credibility, academic or otherwise. I have stated above what the web site is trying to do, editorially, at the home page. You are arguing for a disguised form of censorship, to narrow the perspective of discourse. Do you think that aiming for a rigid academic posting of facts with citations will broaden the base of receptive Jewish readers? Our experience says no. EMPHATICALLY no. We did that for a while. What did we learn? It does not matter WHAT the editorial premise is at this web site, Jewish readers will OVERWHELMINGLY condemn it. "Christian, Muslim, and Communist attacks on Jews" IS VERY MUCH a "coherent message." It is the exact methodology the Jewish community has always used to "attack" the existing American social and political infrastructure: i.e., make allegiances with a range of disparate groups (usually, but not only, "minorities") towards a common goal. And that goal has always been to disenfranchise the existing (non-Jewish) power structure. If the power structure is now Jewish, it behooves everyone to "attack" Jewish-inspired injustice from their own ideological base. In other words, you are complaining about our embryonic use of the very system that the Jewish community has always used towards achieving its OWN goals. What are our goals? To open the "attack" upon the Jewish Lobby to include a broad coalition of disparate groups (including any Jews who recognize the truths we reveal) towards reclaiming the American social, cultural, and political system, which was once supposed to be a "democracy." Instead, it renders itself a ranting board. I would feel better rewarded for my time surfing JTR if it selected articles according to stricter, more centralized criteria. With all due respect, your "more centralized criteria" sounds like sour grapes. If not latent censorship. If you disagree so vehemently with some of the "Christian," "Muslim," or "Communist" perspectives here, write something more extensive about it, and we'll post it -- one way or another. Here's a suggestion: when considering a submission, ask yourselves, "what
can a Jew (or Jews) learn from this if they are genuinely interested in
improving themself (or selves)?" Your suggestion seems a little bit ethnocentric, don't you think? Or, frankly, extraordinarily ethnocentric. I think you reiterate one of the fundamental problems that this web site addresses, which is the great Jewish Blind Spot. The premise of this web site is not to accommodate Jews. Why should it be? Accommodating Jews is a foundation of mainstream Judeocentric culture. And this is actively policed and enforced. The expanding premise here is to accommodate a range of perspectives and identities, centered around the principle idea of this web site, which is the intelligent and moral criticism of Jewish identity, Jewish history, Jewish Power, and apartheid Israel. If you don't like something posted here, fine. Criticize it. No one is infallible in what they say. We'll let you have your forum. Like we're doing here. If your prospective critique merits more attention, we'll post it at our home page. |
